Producer and director Teboho Mahlatsi will be laid to rest in a private funeral ceremony on Friday. Mahlatsi passed away on Monday at the age of 49. The filmmaker was known for producing Yizo Yizo, which aired from 1999 to 2004 and is currently streaming on Netflix.
He also played a significant role in MultiChoice’s most-watched TV series, _Shaka iLembe. Comedian David Kau broke the news of the filmmaker’s passing on behalf of the family.
“It is with the deepest regret that we announce the untimely passing of director and producer Teboho Moseling Mahlatsi on July 3,” Kau’s statement read. The Mahlatsi family will hold a private funeral service on Friday, and will disclose specifics of the memorial, which is scheduled for Monday, according to information released by Kau on Thursday.

Mahlatsi’s cause of death is currently not known. The family said it would share more details in time.
