Bulk water supplier, Rand Water has announced a 17-hour water shutdown scheduled for Wednesday next week. The shutdown will affect various areas in Soweto from 7am to midnight.
Rand Water says this planned maintenance will enable it to repair leaking pipelines.
Rand Water spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala says residents in parts of Soweto will experience low pressure to no water supply during that time.
“Supply to the Chiawelo and Doornkop West reservoirs as well as the direct feeds to the Tshepisong and Chiawelo regions will be affected. Residents are urged to store up sufficient water at least two days before the outage. Recovery may take up to 48 hours after the completion of the maintenance work
