Four suspected illegal miners have been arrested at an old mining shaft at Atok in Sekhukhune, Limpopo. Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says police found a group of people mining illegally.
He says they confiscated eight generators, eleven jackhammers and one water pump. Ledwaba says the suspects will appear in the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court soon.
“It is alleged that police arrived at old mining shaft and found a group of people at Atok illegally mining. The suspects dispersed in different directions and as a result four suspects were arrested for illegal mining and police confiscated the mining equipment.”
